Classic Car Show
and find out more about the Historic Road Sports Championship.

New HRS Chairman Kevin Kivlochan

At the recent end of term drivers' meeting, outgoing Chairman Mike Eagles remarked that the Championship was privileged to have two excellent and well supported candidates for the HRS Chair. The final vote was for Morgan racer Kevin Kivlochan. After a period spent racing elsewhere, the former champion had returned to HRS and his racing roots, where he said he felt most at home. Paul Tooms agreed to continue in his role as class C rep and was looking forward to campaigning his Turner in 2015.

Dick Coffey thanked Mike for his many years of stalwart service to HRS and led a hearty round of applause for the retiring Chairman.

Silverstone finals 18th Oct

It was a wet start to the day as Ian Burford (MG Lenham Le Mans) and the rest of the grid left the holding area.

Special guest Chris Keen in his Kurtis 500s , and Jonathon Stringer (Lotus 7) both question the wisdom of racing open top cars in the uk.
But things got better as the grid prepared for the start of the race.
The race saw the welcome return of Roger Waite and his immaculate S1 Lotus Elan
There was plenty of action throughout the grid, with a wide variety of cars enjoying some very close racing. Sam Spindlow (Morgan plus 4) heads Paul Brown (MGB GT), followed by Jim Gathercole (MG Midget). Mike Freeman (Lotus Elite) leads the next group, followed by Richard Disbrow (Turner), Richard Owen (TR2) and Peter Chappell (Austin Healey Sprite).
The 2014 Championship winner, John Shaw (Porsche 911) leads our sponsor, Witchampton Garage proprietor, Larry Kennedy. The two Marcoses of Johan Denekamp and Bill Smith fight to keep Shadi Eddin's G4 and Andy Shepherd (Lotus 7) behind them, whilst Patrick W-B practises for his forthcoming display at the November Classic Car Show. Up and coming newcomer Jason Williams (Porsche 911) looks to take evasive action!
The Winners.

Andy Shephard (Seven) and Robin Ellis (Elite) worked their steeds hard to claim Historic Road Sports and FiSCar honours. Shepherd bored past Jonathan Stringer's 7 S2 at Paddock on lap two, Then ousted Kevin Kivlochan's Morgan. In a fabulous grid replete with '50s cars, yet sans poleman Larry Kennedy's Elan, Barry Ashdown's door-flapping Elan beat Stinger to third. Ellis was fith, with Brian Arculus's Elite in his slipstream.

Brands Hatch GP 12th - 13th July

The early morning mist hadn't yet lifted as the cars left the pit lane for qualifying.

Andy Shepherd maintained his Historic Road Sports points lead with a win although his nearest point rivals also class winners.
In cricket, this would be called 'sledging' as series sponsor Larry Kennedy attempts to put Andy shepherd off his stride....
.... But to no avail, as Andy takes another race win at his favourite circuit.
Sam Spindlow (Morgan + 4) ahead of the Stringer 7 (struggling with a misfire) Larry Tucker's Ashley Midget, and only just in the frame is the super rare JWF Italia of Daniel Wood.
Peter Shaw's Guilietta Sprint ahead of Paul Brown's MGB GT, being chased hard by Richard Owen in his drum braked TR2.
Barry Ashdown's 'Kermit' on the inside, reigning champ John Shaw's 911 in the middle, and the unpainted aluminium bodied AC Ace of Fiscar racer Andy Shepherd, stakes his claim to the outside line.
Richard Owen a couple of laps later, proving that you can still cut it on drum brakes, ahead of Brian Arculus' Elite.
Whilst Adam Simmonds shows that there is still room for a 'big one' as he hustles the Team Terlingua Mustang around the challenging GP track.

Kevin Kivlochan rumbled his Morgan +8 over from Bedfordshire, then shook off Andy Shepherd's Lotus 7 in the Historic Road Sports counter. Shad Eddin drove his open Ginetta G4 splendidly, hounding down Patrick Ward-Booth's coupe version then snatchin third in his fourth race. Shepherd pipped Kivlochan and James Owen (Triumph TR5) in the annual Handicap in which 9.8 seconds split the top four.

"Richard Plant had just worked his Morgan +8 ahead of Peter Shaw's Elan S1 in Historic Road Sports when the latter's engine stopped abruptly and he coasted pitward, leaving Roger Waite and Frazer Gibney (Elans) to trail the rumbling V8. Lotus 7 stalwart Andy Shepherd's fight back through the field after a first-lap off was rewarded with fourth.

Season opener at Donnington Park 6th April

Welcome to new HRS competitor, Richard Plant in his Morgan +8 who impressed with a win on his debut outing.

Off to a bumper start at Donington… Despite the threat of snow, a cracking grid of 35 cars was a great start to the HRS season. As well as the usual suspects, we welcomed newcomers Tim Pearce in a +8 Morgan, Steve Hodges in his Lotus 7, Roger Waite in the ex Paul Tooms Elan, and Sam Thomas, driving a beautifully turned out AC Aceca on behalf of one of his customers. We also benefitted from the support of some very nice metal bodied 2 litre cars from the Guards Trophy. All in all a spectacular and well turned out grid we can all be proud of.
